Crowned Gears
What is crowned gear ?
Gear crowning involves changing the chordal thickness of the tooth along its axis. This modification eliminates end bearing by offering a contact bearing in the center of the gear.
Where to use ?
Crown gears are typically used for applications where low noise-emitting gears are required. A crown gear used with a rack’s interlocking clogs allows the gear to roll along with the rack even if it has to go uphill or sideways.
